Ryan Coogler ha “more confidence” In Michael B. Jordan di chiunque altro.
Il regista di 38 anni si è riunito con Michael per creare “Sinners”, il loro nuovo film horror soprannaturale, e Ryan ha rivelato come ha convinto Michael a interpretare due personaggi principali nel film.
L’acclamato regista ha detto a Deadline: “Mike è molto ambizioso e in realtà hai maggiori possibilità di convincerlo a dire di sì se la cosa ne richiede di più. E lo so su di lui.
“I wanted to write a role for him that was worth his time and energy, where the execution of it was incredibly difficult. And honestly, I have more confidence in Mike and his abilities than anybody. And I did not expect him to be as good as he was in this.”
Michael, 38 anni, interpreta i fratelli gemelli Smoke and Stack in “Sinners” e Ryan crede che Michael abbia consegnato “the two best performances” della sua carriera.
Il regista ha detto: “Just flat out, I think these two performances are the two best performances I’ve ever seen him give. And knowing who he is, Mike personally is very close to who the Stack character is. But seeing him become Smoke, as somebody who’s a friend of his, was very unnerving.”
Nel frattempo, Michael ha recentemente rivelato che Ryan lo ha convinto di poter diventare una star del cinema.
L’attore ha spesso lavorato con Ryan nell’ultimo decennio e l’acclamato regista ha svolto un ruolo importante nel successo di Michael.
La star di Hollywood – che ha lavorato con Ryan in una serie di progetti, tra cui “Creed”, “Black Panther” e “Sinners” – ha detto a “Extra”: “It’s extremely important to me … I feel like, at a time, earlier in my career when I was figuring out what type of actor I wanted to be, lead actor, you know, like where do I stand in entertainment industry? Only been a part of ensembles and in this nature, never opened a movie before, never been a lead of a film before, so I was searching for that and Ryan was the first director to believe in that, and tell me I was a movie star and believed it and made me believe it, you know?”
Michael recita al fianco di Hailee Steinfeld in “Sinners”, e l’attore in precedenza ha affermato che la performance del suo co-protagonista le mostra “in a new light”.
Michael ha detto a Whowhatwear: “La performance di Hailee in” Sinners “è molto, molto versatile e onestamente divertente.
