Jay North, l’attore bambino che ha recitato come il personaggio principale della sitcom degli anni ’60 Dennis the Menace, è morto.
La notizia della sua morte per cancro è stata condivisa dal collega star del bambino Jon Provost, che ha interpretato Timmy in TV Lassie.
“I share this news with a heavy, heavy heart,” ha scritto Provost sulla sua pagina Facebook. “We just lost another original and dear friend, Jay North. I’ve known Jay for almost 70 years. It wasn’t as easy for you as it was for some of us, not that it was a piece of cake that’s for sure, but you did suffer a lot more than most. You were a great guy Jay and I miss you with all my heart, but I know you’re at peace now.”
Provost si riferiva alla quantità eccessiva di lavoro che era stato spinto a nord in così giovane età. Aveva otto anni quando Dennis The Menace, basato sul fumetto di Hank Ketcham, ha debuttato nel 1959.
La serie è durata quattro stagioni, che hanno totalizzato 146 episodi.
Un’altra star del bambino, Bill Mumy, noto per il suo ruolo di Will Robinson in TV Lost in Space, ha anche pubblicato un tributo.
“RIP Jay North. We only socialised a few times, but the ‘Child Star Club’ is a small and always tightly connected group. It’s an experience that only a few can truly relate to and understand from the inside.”
