Lo scrittore-regista Paul Schrader è stato accusato di aggressione sessuale e molestie dal suo ex assistente personale.
Nei nuovi documenti del tribunale civile, una donna di 26 anni conosciuta come Jane Doe ha affermato che lo sceneggiatore di toro e tassista in tempesta l’ha presa forzatamente e l’ha baciata mentre erano al Festival del cinema di Cannes a maggio dello scorso anno per la premiere del suo film Oh, in Canada.
Tre giorni dopo, il regista di 78 anni presumibilmente “forced Ms. Doe into his hotel room, under the guise of packing his bags for him, and he exposed his penis to her”.
Nella mozione, DOE afferma che Schrader ha fatto il suo lavoro in un “sexually hostile, intimidating, and humiliating environment” Durante il suo periodo come suo assistente personale tra maggio 2021 e settembre 2024.
Il team legale di Doe sostiene di essere stata licenziata per aver rifiutato di acconsentire ai progressi di Schrader. Nei mesi successivi, Schrader avrebbe accettato di pagare un accordo confidenziale per risolvere le sue accuse, ma ha avuto un cambio di cuore e si è ritirato il mese scorso.
Il team di Doe ha presentato i documenti di New York giovedì per rendere Schrader conformarsi all’accordo.
L’avvocato Menaka Fernando, in rappresentanza di Doe, ha detto all’Indipendent, “As stated in our motion, Ms. Doe is simply seeking to enforce the settlement agreement between the parties resolving her sexual harassment and sexual assault claims. We have no further comment at this time and ask that the media respect Ms. Doe’s privacy.”
Nel frattempo, l’avvocato di Schrader, Philip Kessler, ha descritto le affermazioni come “desperate, frivolous, and opportunistic”.
“The underlying intentions of the plaintiff here contain many very material inaccuracies, and are obviously designed to paint Mr. Schrader in a very false light, in an effort to intimidate and coerce him into settling,” Disse Kessler. “And just to be very clear, Mr. Schrader never had sex in any form with the plaintiff, nor did he ever attempt such a thing. We will vigorously defend this.”
