Tiffany Haddish e Chelsea Handler stanno per celebrare la vita e la carriera di Joan Rivers durante un’imminente Tribute Special della commedia.
Giovedì, i produttori della NBC hanno annunciato che Joan Rivers: A Dead Funny All-Star Tribute andrà in onda sulla rete il 13 maggio. Il film onorerà l’eredità della commedia Trailblazer Rivers, morta all’età di 81 anni a settembre 2014.
Accanto a artisti del calibro di Habbish e Handler, lo speciale presenterà apparizioni e pezzi musicali di artisti del calibro di Rachel Brosnahan, Margaret Cho, Nikki Glaser, Neil Patrick Harris, Bill Maher, Howie Mandel, Joel McHale, Tracy Morgan, Patton Oswalt, Aubrey Plaza, Sarah Silverman, Jean Smart, e Rita Wilrson.
In una dichiarazione, la figlia di Joan Melissa Rivers ha insistito sul fatto che sua madre sarebbe stata elettrizzata all’argomento dello speciale.
“It’s incredibly moving to see so many iconic comedians come together to celebrate her legacy, especially the women whose careers she helped make possible by breaking down so many doors,” ha detto. “I know she’d be thrilled to see how far things have come, and she’d still have notes. This is more than a tribute. It’s a reminder of the trail she blazed and the joy she brought to so many.”
Girato all’Apollo Theatre di Harlem, New York, i proventi dello spettacolo andranno a beneficio dell’amore di God di beneficenza che consegniamo, che Joan ha sostenuto per molti anni.
Inoltre, una versione estesa e non censurata dello Speciale si riverserà tramite Peacock il 14 maggio e presenterà altri fumetti, che saranno annunciati in un secondo momento.
“Joan Rivers is deserving of her status as one of the funniest and most influential comedians of all time,” Aggiunto NBCUniversal Entertainment Executive Jen Neal. “She paved the way for so many women who came after her and this special is a way to honour her for all of her incredible achievements both on the stage and off.”
